A:

Recently I’ve read an inspiring feature story about a young video game developer called Allison Yang. She was once a gaming addict when she was young.

B:

Cool! Her parents must be very lenient to let her play games for a long time.

A:

Quite the contrary. Her parents had enrolled her in English tutorial classes and choir group to keep her away from playing video games. But she managed to play up to 16 hours a day!

B:

How could Allison make it?

A:

After she showed up to the classes, she phoned her home landline to see if anyone would pick up. If no one did, that meant her parents were at work. She would hurry home and squeeze in as many extra hours on the home PC as she could.

B:

Was she able to cheat on her parents with these cunning tricks?

A:

Of course not! She was busted eventually. One day her parents came to pick her up from English class but she wasn’t there.

B:

Haha, what goes around comes around. I bet her parents would be so furious.

A:

Yes, and they started hiding the mouse, keyboard and even the monitor, but the situation didn’t last long after Allison started university.

B:

She must be feeling like being out of prison without her parents’ supervision.

A:

It was a pity that she dropped out of her PhD in museum studies in Germany because of playing games too much. Then she started to consider turning her passion for video gaming into her career.

B:

How did she get started as a video game developer?

A:

She first wrote video games reviews for a local newspaper in 2013. Then she jumped at the chance by curating games exhibitions in virtual museums in mainland China.

B:

Wow! She’s such a genius! Is she still playing video games for 16 hours a day?

A:

Not really. She’s now a game developer, producer and curator. She’s too busy working on multiple projects that occupy her everyday life.

B:

I guess she will gain a sense of satisfaction from her dream job.

A:

I think so. If you have a dream, set a goal and make them real!
