What are you going to do when you are under stress before the exam?
|
Student A:
|
When you feel frustrated about a difficult topic, I think we should stop for a moment and do something interesting. For me, I will play basketball or football with friends. I don’t say that you play sports every time when you feel frustrated. The most important part is that you learn how to balance the time. Don’t just study all the time. It is not efficient as your brain feels tired and won’t absorb a bit of knowledge.

I agree when you are stuck in a difficult topic, it is of no use to ponder over the problem. Let yourself calm down and seek help from teachers or friends. You may discover a new insight into the problem. Having a new insight can build up confidence. When you are more confident about your studies, you will definitely feel less stressful.

It is always not a good idea to hide your emotion or nervousness. If you have problems, talk to your best friends. Tell them what you are facing. They are the ones who understand you. You may find out that they are having the same problem as you do. Your best friends might not offer instant help, but their support is really what you need at the moment. You won’t feel alone and are provided with some impetus to go on.

Sometimes your friends might not be available to you when you need them. Don’t worry. Your family will be your last resort. Your parents might not be able to help you with the academic problems. But they are good listeners and will comfort you.

Most of the stress comes from inability to do well in the exam. I agree if you are confident about your studies, you will feel less stressful about the exam. Can you give us some tips to study well?
|
Student A:

Revision is very important. You have to review what you have learnt today. If you come across any difficulty in your revision, go to ask the teacher. Do not let them accumulate, otherwise you will devote more time to deal with it. When you understand the concepts, try to ask your teacher to provide you with similar exercises to reconsolidate the concepts.

Doing homework seriously is one of the effective ways to do revision. You are likely to come across difficult concepts. Try to form study groups and do homework together after school. When problems arise, you can ask your classmates. Even better, you can teach your classmates. Explaining to your classmates not only reconsolidates what you learn, but also makes it harder to forget

You may read your textbook over and over again and feel that you do not improve any further. You should seek other sources. One of the ways is to read other textbooks in the library or notes from tutorial centres if you can find one. They may provide you with different perspectives which can help you solve the problem or clear up the concepts which have been lingering you for a long time.

I agree. I have done it and find it works wonder with my studies. Also, you should find more exercises to do. There are a lot of resources in the library. You will learn different questioning styles and your answers will be getting more aligned to the marking requirements.
